the hip and wrist combined), according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
One in two women and one in four men older than 50 will have an

DeRoyal
DeRoyal’s is now marketing IonFusion™ Blades, each
technologically engineered with modified molecular surface structure to improve
physical properties. These stainless steel blades are treated with an ion annealing
process to reduce brittleness, creating a highly resilient, atomically sharpened
cutting edge with superior function of unprecedented levels. Consistent quality,
sharpness and functionality of the metal have been tested to endure extreme
bending force that drastically diminishes possible snapping, breaking and
chipping. The signature “champagne gold” edge indicates the blades’
edge-retention longevity, with one IonFusion Blade replacing multiple
conventional blades per procedure. This reduction in the number of blades needed
for an operation lowers costs, simplifies disposal, decreases operating room
time and protects personnel due to less blade handling.

Derungs Medical Lighting
New from Derungs Medical Lighting, a subsidiary of Waldmann
Lighting Company: the portable DL-122 hand-held ring magnifier, developed
specifically for dermatologists. The DL-122 is part of Derungs’ line of
medical task lighting for examination and procedures, and indirect/direct wall
lighting for healthcare environments. The DL-122 is a portable, ring-shaped
magnifying light that facilitates visual assessment during diagnosis. The
22-watt vitalite ring lamp emits a 5300K color temperature, which corresponds to
the spectrum of natural, average daylight. This enables the magnifier to
brightly and uniformly illuminate the examined area and aids in easily
diagnosing normal or diseased skin. The 4.5-inch diameter, 4-diopter biconvex
magnifier lens enlarges the examined area to two times its original size and the
1-1/4-inch bubble lens magnifies the viewed area four times for close-up
evaluation. An electronic ballast for flicker-free illumination and increased
energy efficiency is available.
