DENVER — The House of Delegates of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) recently elected its board of directors and Nominating & Leadership Development Committee for the 2009-2011 term. The board of directors was inducted into office at the AORN annual Congress on March 19 in Chicago. The election also marked the beginning of the term of Patrick Voight, RN, BSN, MSA, CNOR, as association president replacing Susan Banschbach, RN, MSN, CNOR. Voight, a senior manager in the health care consulting practice of Deloitte & Touche, has been a member of AORN since 1992, and has served two two-year terms on the AORN board of directors. AORN represents approximately 42,000 registered nurses in the U.S. and abroad who facilitate the management, teaching and practice of perioperative nursing, or who are enrolled in nursing education or engaged in perioperative research. The House of Delegates is comprised of AORN chapter appointees and members at large representing 350 Association chapters. Board elections are conducted annually. The results of the board election are as follows: - Charlotte Guglielmi, RN, BSN, MA, CNOR, is president-elect. She is a perioperative nurse specialist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she has been a perioperative nurse for 33 years. She has been a member of AORN since 1985.
- Anne Fairchild, RN, BSN, MS, CNOR, is the new treasurer. Fairchild has been in Surgical Services leadership for 20 years and is currently a Leadership and Surgical Services Consultant.
- Rhonda Anders, RN, BSN, MSM, CNOR, in her second, two-year term, is director for Medical and Surgical Nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
- Peter Graves, RN, BSN, CNOR is the senior clinical nurse for Molnlycke Health Care, based in Dallas.
- Darin Prescott, RN, BSN, CNOR, CASC, a perioperative nurse since 1994, is Perioperative Educator at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn.
- Victoria Steelman, PhD, RN, CNOR, FAAN, is a perioperative advanced practice nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
AORN continuing officers for 2009–2010 include: Anne Marie Herlehy, RN, MS, CNOR, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Chicago, as vice president; Deborah G. Spratt, RN, BSN, MPA, CNOR, NEA-BC, Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., as secretary. Continuing board members are: Rosemarie Schroeder, RN, BSN, CNOR, St. Joseph’s Hospital with Ministry Health Care in Marshfield, Wis.; Rose E. Seavey, RN, BS, MBA, CNOR, ACSP, Seavey Healthcare Consulting, Arvada, Colo.; and David Wyatt, RN, MPH, CNOR, Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver. Newly elected to the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee are Karen B. Moser, RN, BSN, CNOR, of James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona, Penn.; and Maureen M. Pennington, RN. MSN, CNOR, with the Naval Medical Center San Diego. AORN continuing Nominating and Leadership Development Committee members for 2009-2010 include: chairperson Donna Ford, RN-BC, MSN, CNOR, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., and members Callie S.
