MEDIBIS to be Business Intelligence Partner to United Surgical Partners International
02/09/2009
MEDIBIS has entered into an agreement with United Surgical Partners International (USPI) to deploy its Web-based business intelligence software across all of USPI's domestic surgery centers and specialty hospitals. With approximately 170 facilities coast-to-coast, USPI is the one of the country's largest surgery center management companies.
"The surgery center industry is rapidly increasing in sophistication, and the need for integrated business intelligence to evaluate strategic decisions and optimize financial performance is more acute than ever." said Roy Georgia, founder and vice president of data solutions at MEDIBIS. "This is a wave that has been building for years, and USPI marks our biggest initiative yet."
"With our technology, USPI will be able to drill down to assess almost every financial and clinical aspect of its operations — at the case level, the site level and the level of the entire enterprise," said Georgia. "And they can benchmark their performance against real-time industry averages."
"We believe that deploying MEDIBIS at our facilities will provide, on a timely basis, key information that we need to manage our facilities," stated Mark Kopser, CFO of USPI.
Founded in 2002, MEDIBIS has designed and built the surgery center industry's only analytical, business intelligence and benchmarking software. The application is delivered over the Web on a subscription basis, easily interfacing with a center's practice management platform. In 2008, MEDIBIS was acquired by PMG Partners, LLC, the nation's leading provider of technology-enhanced revenue cycle services, including transcription, coding, billing and collection services, to ambulatory surgery centers and specialty physicians. Collectively, PMG works with more than 600 centers in more than 30 states.
USPI develops and operates surgical centers and hospitals nationwide, partnering with prominent physicians and not-for-profit health systems. It is a leader in the ambulatory surgery center and short-stay hospital industry in the country.
