Northeastern Confirms Outpatient Clinic Conversion

05/26/2009

Modern Healthcare is reporting Temple University Health System will convert Northeastern Hospital to an outpatient clinic, as previously announced, after executives agreed to work with lawmakers for 30 days “to seek options that would fully address the current and projected financial problems” for the 187-bed hospital.

“At this time, we continue to move forward with our transition plans so that Northeastern Ambulatory Care Center will be open July 1,” Rebecca Harmon, a spokeswoman for Temple said. The hospital system said in late March it would close emergency and inpatient services at the struggling Philadelphia hospital because of fewer patients and rising operating losses.
