Pa. Overtime-Ending Bill Passes

10/13/2008

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Pennsylvania bill that would end mandatory overtime for healthcare workers passed in the state’s legislature. The bill dictates that Pennsylvania hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and long-term care providers can no longer require nurses and other clinical care workers to work overtime, ModernHealthcare.com reported.

The bill includes hourly workers, clinical workers who are not supervisors and temporary workers, the Web site reported. According to the site “the bill excludes doctors, physician assistants and dentists, as well as other jobs not directly related to care, such as clerical and maintenance employees.”
