The 2012 Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) conference took place earlier this month in Dallas. This year, for the first time, the annual membership meeting was held during the opening session. Besides the introduction of board members by outgoing president David Shapiro, MD, ASCA's CEO Bill Prentice shared information on the latest regulatory affairs, asserting that the organization wants to work on things that matter to its members. In additional sessions, Andrew Hayek, president and CEO of Surgical Care Affiliates, presented an encouraging ASC Market Overview; a panel of executives shared their expertise during a Q&A; incoming and outgoing key ASCA players were honored; and a proud assortment of ASC professionals was awarded CASC designations.
