Summit Medical Group Selects TouchWorks; 120-Physician Practice to Implement Paperless Patient Records

CHICAGO -- Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, a leading provider of clinical software and information solutions for physicians, announced today that Summit Medical Group (SMG) in Summit, N.J., has selected TouchWorks clinical software for their multi-specialty practice. The 120 providers of SMG will use TouchWorks to manage patient charts electronically.

Using TouchWorks applications, SMG will implement a paperless virtual medical record, enabling physicians to access and share critical patient data across multiple locations. TouchWorks will enable SMG to bring lab results, prescriptions, clinical notes, and even in-bound paper documentation (using TouchWorks Scan) into a completely electronic medical record, which SMG physicians can access anytime and anywhere they have access to the Internet.

SMG has already started planning their implementation process and will use the TouchWorks modular approach to the virtual medical record. Instead of the traditional all-or-nothing implementation method, TouchWorks enables a physician practice to start with the applications that address their most pressing needs first, and then add more applications at the practice's own pace.
