ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Rosemarie Nelson, MS has joined the
MGMA Health Care Consulting Group as a senior consultant. Nelson is an
information technology expert who will help physician executives and
group practice administrators maximize medical group office flow,
technology system integration, financial management, operational
efficiency, resource allocation, electronic medical records (EMR) and
patient flow.
Nelson brings more than 20 years of experience in medical group
administration, marketing and consulting to the Medical Group Management
Association's (MGMA's) consulting group. Nelson is also a nationally
recognized author, presenter and instructor. As a part-time consultant
for MGMA for more than a year, Nelson consults with single-specialty and
multispecialty practices.
"Rosemarie's diversity of experience is a tremendous asset," said
Richard Hansen, MS, vice president and managing principal of MGMA Health
Care Consulting Group. "She understands technology issues from both the
group practice and the vendor perspective because she's worked on both
sides. Her appreciation of technology and the role it plays in the
group-practice setting is visionary."
Nelson has worked as an independent consultant for several years. She
has also worked for Welch Allyn, Health Care Data Systems, Planned
Parenthood Center of Syracuse and Key Bank. She sits on the board of
directors for the American Heart Association and is a member of the
Association of Professional Computer Consultants.
"My job as a technology consultant is to improve operational efficiency
by incorporating IT (information technology) in the medical group
practice," said Nelson. "At MGMA, I'll be focusing on methods to create
the office of the future. I hope to help our members and clients
recognize the options that technology presents and to view technology
solutions not as end results but as the means to an end."
The MGMA, founded in 1926, is the nation's principal voice for medical
group practice. MGMA's 19,000 members manage and lead more than 11,000
organizations in which more than 220,000 physicians practice.
