CHICAGO -- The top requested cosmetic surgical procedure will be the topic of discussion as cosmetic surgeons gather from around the globe for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery's 2004 World Congress on Liposuction Surgery. From Oct. 1-3, 2004 the Ritz Carlton St. Louis, in St. Louis will host hundreds of physicians as they analyze, share and debate the latest developments in cosmetic surgery.
Since it was first performed in Italy 30 years ago, liposuction quickly spread around the world and demand continues today. AACS statistics show that liposuction is the most requested cosmetic surgical procedure and attracts new patients at a growing rate.
AACS will welcome one of the inventors of liposuction and president
of the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Giorgio Fischer, MD, who
will share his experiences from the past thirty years in a featured
presentation. Other featured speakers bring expertise from around the world
such as Alberto DiGiuseppe, MD of Italy, and Doris Hexsel, MD of Brazil.
Developments in liposuction are constantly occurring, fueling its dramatic
growth. "The Potential of Using Lipo-Derived Stem Cells for Bone and
Cartilage Regeneration," "Subcision in the Treatment of Cellulite," "The
Efficacy and Safety of Combining Liposuction with Abdominoplasty," and "The
Liposuction Diet" are just a glimpse of topics that will be presented. The
full range of topics includes more effective tools and procedures, alternative
applications of liposuction, the use of lasers and liposuction of the face,
neck and breasts, fat grafting and transfer, facial rejuvenation, safety,
complications and anesthesia in liposuction and more.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery is a professional medical society
whose members are dedicated to patient safety and physician education in
cosmetic surgery. Most members of the AACS are dermatologic surgeons, facial
plastic surgeons, head and neck surgeons, general surgeons, oral and
maxillofacial surgeons, plastic surgeons, or ocular plastic surgeons -- all of
whom specialize in cosmetic surgery.
