Chapin Named Miller-Dwan Medical Center Administrator

DULUTH, Minn. -- Rocklon B. Chapin has been named chief operating officer/administrator of Miller-Dwan Medical Center.

 

Chapin has more than 25 years of leadership experience in healthcare, including at St. Luke’s Methodist Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, where he served in a number of administrative capacities. He has special expertise in mental health programming, ambulatory surgery centers, service quality improvement, and operations improvement.

 

His prior work also involves several years of service as president and CEO of VHA Iowa, which was a multiple-hospital jointly owned service company providing mobile diagnostic and therapeutic services. Most recently, he served as national director of healthcare services for Ryan Companies in Minneapolis, a development/construction/property management firm.

 

Chapin has a master’s degree in hospital/healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota. His undergraduate degree is from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and he is a Certified Healthcare Executive with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
