Scott Blickensderfer is the First D.O. Named to AAAASF Board

GURNEE, Ill. -- Scott A. Blickensderfer, DO, in practice at Urology Associates of South Bend, Ind. has joined the board of directors of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).  He becomes the first doctor of osteopathy to join the AAAASF board, a further recognition of the importance of AAAASF's "gold standard" accreditation among a growing segment of ambulatory surgery facilities.

Blickensderfer, who earned his DO at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo., completed his internship at MetropolitanHospital in Mt. Clemens, Mich., where he also completed his residency in general surgery.  He also completed a residency in urologic surgery at Bi-CountyCommunityHospital in Warren, Mich.

Blickensderfer, who is board certified from the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, devotes much of his practice to treating impotence, female incontinence and Stone disease. He is formerly a visiting instructor in the Department of Surgery at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also served as an associate professor.

He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, AmericanCollege of Osteopathic Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, and Indiana Osteopathic Association.  A two-time recipient of the Resident Achievement Award from the AmericanCollege of Osteopathic Surgeons, he also served as both vice chairman and chairman of the medical staff of St. JosephCommunityHospital. Blickensderfer is a resident of Granger, Ind.
