AAAASF Elects Alan Gold, MD, FACS, as New Board President

GURNEE, Ill. -- The American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF) announces that Alan H. Gold, MD, FACS, has been named AAAASF's new president. He assumes the post after serving as vice president for the board of directors and performing many roles and chairing many committees such as the strategic planning committee and the standards committee. These important committees are essential for the advancement and refinement of the core business of surgery center accreditation and the "gold standards” that define AAAASF.
Gold has been practicing plastic surgery for more than 25 years, and performs a variety of surgical procedures at the GoldAmbulatorySurgeryCenter, located in Great Neck, N.Y., which is fully accredited by the AAAASF.
Gold is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He completed his college education at ColgateUniversity in three years, graduating with honors, and then attended New York's Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. He trained in his general surgery residency at NorthShoreUniversityHospital, and completed his plastic surgery residency at New York's Kings County Hospital-Downstate Medical Center. In private practice since 1978 specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery, Gold also holds the academic title of clinical associate professor of surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
