Cape Cod ASCs, Hospitals May Join Forces

CAPE COD, Mass.─ Cape Cod and Falmouth hospitals may join forces with local ambulatory surgery centers as new legislation requires ASCs to adhere to tighter state guidelines.

Prior to the new legislation ,there was a standing feud between area hospitals and ASCs, as the ASCs cut into hospital profits and led Cape Cod Healthcare into a financial crisis that cost the company nearly 170 employees.

The partnership could aid ASCs in obtaining and maintaining the licensing the new legislation requires and the collaboration would help hospitals regain some of their loss profits.
