Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital, LLC Receives 2009 Summit Award

12/07/2009

Overland, KS — Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital, LLC (HSSH), also known as Heartland Spine and Specialty Hospital, is proud to announce it has been named a 2009 winner of the prestigious Summit Award by Press Ganey Associates, Inc., for its continued dedication to customer service and satisfaction.

The Press Ganey Summit Award is the healthcare satisfaction industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement as it recognizes top performing facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. Heartland—a physician-owned hospital—is one of 84 nationwide organizations to receive a 2009 Summit Award, and one of 32 impatient facilities chosen for the award based on its superior level of inpatient services.

“We’re very honored to receive this accolade that publicly recognizes our continued commitment to provide the best customer service for patients and their families here at Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital,” said Don Burman, chief executive officer. “We go above and beyond to ensure each person’s interaction with our facility is one that provides the utmost level of care and comfort.”

Heartland was recognized because of action taken to reduce noise stemming from the nurse’s station that was hindering patients’ ability to rest and recover. The inpatient unit started a “HUSH” campaign, which included implementing quiet hours in the afternoon and night, dimming lights as a precursor to reduce noise levels, and using reminders to acknowledge the level of sound when noise levels became unacceptable.
