24 Outpatient Clinics to Open at LA County-USC Medical Center

09/17/2008

LOS ANGELES─Two dozen outpatient clinics are to open at the new Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

The first clinic, which opened Sept. 15, is part of a $1.02 billion, 1.5 million square-foot and 75-year effort to replace the single, long existing Los Angeles County-USC hospital.

The 24 clinics, which will include a burn, eye and neurology centers, will be condensed into one new tower on the hospital’s 72-acre campus.

Six-hundred beds will be available at the new facility, which is predicted, like the current County-USC's clinics, to be some of the busiest in the country. In addition, the vast majority of the facilities patients will be uninsured or on Medicare or Medi-Cal.

The Los Angeles Times reported that officials are planning a public grand opening Oct. 4.
