ASC Inspection Bill Signed Into Law in Nevada

06/01/2009

Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons signed Assembly Bill 123 into law on May 22, which requires ambulatory surgical clinics to be the subject of yearly, unannounced inspections rather than inspections every three to six years.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the state Legislature and Gibbons combined to pass four other health-related bills into law before the end of their session June 1. Two include Assembly Bill 10, which provides additional protection against retaliation or discrimination for whistle-blowing medical personnel — brought on by news of a group in the recent hepatitis C outbreak that were afraid to come forward, and Senate Bill 362, which affirms a law on the books that a healthcare professional’s license can suspended if the facility they own is investigate or disciplined for misconduct.
