Oklahoma Hospital to Buy ASC

Stillwater Medical Center, an Oklahoma hospital will move forward on purchasing Stillwater Surgery Center, according to a report in Stillwater NewsPress.

According to the article, the purchase is largely motivated by the fear of what may happen to physician-owned  medical practices in light of the national healthcare reform.

As stated in the article, "Hospital chief executive officer Jerry Moeller said the on again, off again negotiation process had been in the works for about three years. At times each side has initiated negotiations for the acquisition, but with possibly radical changes to Medicare on the horizon, doctors at Stillwater Surgery Center may have felt pushed toward selling the practice."
