Richmond University Medical Center To Open ASC and Urgent Care Center
01/11/2010
STATEN ISLAND, NY --- Richmond University Medical Center will open an ambulatory surgery and urgicare center next year at the Corporate Commons in Bloomfield that will expand much-needed medical services and broaden healthcare access in the borough.
The West Brighton-based hospital has signed a long-term lease to rent the first two floors of Corporate Commons One at the Teleport site on South Avenue from developers Richard and Lois Nicotra.
The project, initially budgeted at $35 million to $40 million with technology and equipment, is expected to eventually serve 40,000 to 50,000 patients a year, said Richard J. Murphy, RUMC's president and CEO. It will also provide 250 to 300 jobs, at least 50 percent of which will be new.
When completely built out, the center will offer a variety of medical services, including ambulatory surgery, radiology, urgicare, chemotherapy and women's care, he said earlier today. It also will house doctors' offices.
"This site gives Richmond University Medical Center the additional opportunity to reach an underserved community and increase our presence on Staten Island," said Murphy. "This development brings new jobs and expanded patient services and speaks to the vigor of RUMC's board, administration, nurses and staff."
