U.S. Coast Guard Names AAAHC Its Ambulatory Healthcare Accreditor

12/29/2009
SKOKIE, IL—– The United States Coast Guard has again selected the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC/Accreditation Association) as the accrediting organization for its 34 ambulatory healthcare centers.  The Coast Guard operates clinics that provide outpatient medical, dental and vision care, as well as pharmacy, radiology and laboratory services throughout the coastal regions of the U.S., as well as Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico.  The five-year contract is a renewal of a partnership between AAAHC and the Coast Guard that began in 2004.

“We are pleased that the Coast Guard has again placed its confidence in the Accreditation Association to help it provide patients with high quality ambulatory treatment,” said John Burke, PhD, executive director and CEO of the AAAHC. “As the nation’s largest accrediting body for ambulatory healthcare organizations, we welcome this opportunity to continue our work with the Coast Guard to ensure its ambulatory clinics are meeting or exceeding national standards for quality outpatient healthcare.”

The AAAHC has had a similar partnership with the U.S. Air Force since 2006.
