DALLAS -- Ambulatory surgery center (ASC) administrators and managers are invited to participate in the 2007 financial and operational benchmarking study being conducted by InforMed Healthcare Media and the American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAASC). Unlike traditional survey based benchmarking compiled on the outpatient surgical market, this study is completed by finance professionals using actual performance information aggregated directly from the financial and operating reports of the contributors. The result is a much less time consuming process for participants and the resulting data is far more reliable.

This report, the Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker for 2007, is the successor to last year’s inaugural Intellimarker benchmarking publication. This year’s study is being conducted in collaboration with the AAASC and will include even more information and analysis to provide the best information available on physician-owned, ambulatory surgical facilities. The report presents information and analyses that allow ASC owners and operators to compare their ASC's performance with actual statistics from a large database of free-standing centers providing information that enables them to operate more efficiently, improve performance and ultimately enhance the quality of healthcare delivered in ASCs.

“We are delighted to partner with InforMed in making this resource available. Whether it be for the evaluation of existing operations, analyzing feasibility of a new center, transaction support or other purposes, having better information enables you to make better decisions.” said Craig Jeffries, executive director of the AAASC. “As you might expect, the more information we are able to aggregate, the better the resource available to the industry as a whole. Our research is an asset not only to ASC owners and operators, but also to others with an interest in the industry including those developing new medical technologies used in ASCs, those working on behalf of the industry and many other constituencies.”

The AAASC and InforMed are also working to bring expanded information resources to the ASC owners, operators and others with an interest in the market. InforMed and AAASC are collaborating on the development of additional research and other tools for improving the operations and financial performance of surgery centers.
