Denver, Colo. -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently presented the Colorado Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (CASCA) with the Community Leader Award for its commitment to the transformation of the U.S. healthcare system.

According to HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt, CASCA’s actions contribute to a "value-driven healthcare system that delivers....good health for all Americans."

“This is a very prestigious honor and I’d like to thank Secretary Leavitt for presenting us with this award,” says CASCA president, Rosalie Bodenhamer, administrator of Northwest Surgery Centers. “Ambulatory surgery centers all across Colorado are committed to improving our state’s healthcare delivery system and we’re pleased that the Secretary has recognized our hard work.”

A Community Leader for Value-Driven Health Care is a multi-participant organization working to achieve the four cornerstones of Value-Driven Health Care: interoperable health information technology; transparency of price information; transparency of quality information; and the use of incentives to promote high-quality and cost-efficient healthcare.
