CHICAGO and ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 2, 2008 – A 12,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center will be the anchor tenant in a new medical office building (MOB) on the East Orlando Hospital campus, which is part of Florida Health. Chicago-based Lillibridge will develop and own the facility.
The Surgical Medical Plaza will be a 60,000 square foot, three-story building located on the East Orlando Hospital campus. An ambulatory surgery center will be the anchor tenant and will occupy the entire first floor. The facility will have an attractive, modern design and will feature a separate covered patient drop-off and a separate covered pick-up area for post-surgery patients. The groundbreaking occurred in September, and the MOB is scheduled for completion in fall 2009.
“It has been great working with Lillibridge on the Surgical Medical Plaza building,” says Ed Noseworthy, CEO of East Orlando Hospital. “They have the experience necessary to navigate all the city and county approvals and reviews and they are outstanding in working with our physicians. We are looking forward to the completion of this high-quality medical office building and ambulatory surgery center.”
The hospital wanted a facility that would accommodate new physicians as well as employed physician medical groups. The goal is to include a mix of medical specialties, many of whom would utilize the new ambulatory surgery center.
“We’ve had a very strong relationship with Florida Hospital System for many years,” says Lillibridge chairman and chief executive officer Todd Lillibridge. “We’re excited to continue that relationship with this new Surgical Medical Plaza on the East Orlando Hospital campus.”
