Helmsley Trust Donates $9.7 Million for New Conn. Surgery Center

The charitable trust of late hotelier Leona Helmsley and her husband has donated $9.7 million to Greenwich Hospital to help pay for the hospital's new outpatient surgery center in Greenwich, Conn., which opened in January. According to The Stamford (Conn.) Advocate, the center will be renamed the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Ambulatory Medical Center.

The new surgery center offers a range of outpatient procedures, including eye, gynecologic, plastic and orthopedic surgeries. It will provide more space for surgeries at the hospital, where operating rooms had been close to capacity, according to hospital officials.
