VERSAILLES, Ohio – Midmark Corporation, a manufacturer in integrated digital diagnostic devices for ambulatory care, and Buffalo Medical Group, PC, one of the largest private multi-specialty medical practices in upstate New York, announced the successful implementation of the Midmark IQecg™ and IQstress™ into BMG’s diagnostic services.
In 2008, BMG began its search for a digital diagnostic system that would work with the organization’s Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system and improve their workflow efficiency while moving toward a paperless office. They also wanted a quality system that was small, portable and easy to use. After reviewing several products, they selected Midmark’s IQecg and IQstress.
“These Midmark products work seamlessly with the Epic EMR and the transition was very smooth for our staff,” stated Ron Stipp, technical support supervisor for BMG. “We are also pleased with the lightweight and small design of the IQecg. It can be conveniently moved from one room to another to accommodate the staff and the patient.”
Michael Vasiloff, director of purchasing for BMG commented, “With the Midmark IQecg, the demographic fields are populated directly from the EMR, and the integration with the EMR allows the completed ECG to trigger payment requests to the insurance companies.” Vasiloff added, “Having an ECG directly connected to the EMR allows us to go paperless while saving time and money.
BMG’s previous workflow involved time in entering patient data before and after performing ECG tests as well as scanning reports into the EMR system. The Midmark IQ products provided the solution BMG required by eliminating duplicate data entry and reducing paper. In the first year of using the Midmark IQecg, BMG reported an employee’s time savings equivalent to over $50,000, according to Eileen Leary, chief operating officer.
