MOBILE, Ala. – The SSI Group, Inc. (SSI) announced today that Mary Hyland, assistant vice president of regulatory affairs, was awarded the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) Award of Merit on November 9, 2010. WEDI recognized and awarded Hyland at the organization’s annual member meeting, which took place during WEDI’s Fall Conference in Reston, Va.

WEDI’s Awards Program identifies and recognizes individuals and organizations in the healthcare industry whose achievements have contributed significantly to the advancement of WEDI's mission and/or the overall improvement of specific aspects of the healthcare industry. The program, which is comprised of six awards, recognized 35 individuals and two organizations this year.

The WEDI Award of Merit acknowledges individuals who have contributed in a meaningful way to the success of WEDI, the WEDI National Provider Identifier Outreach Initiative (NPIOI) and/or the WEDI Strategic National Implementation Process (SNIP) programs and activities through their volunteer commitment and talents. Hyland joined 17 other healthcare industry leaders in receiving the Award of Merit.

“I express my deep sense of gratitude to WEDI for having considered me for this noble award. It is an honor and a privilege to represent SSI and work with fellow healthcare industry leaders to advance interoperable healthcare information technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of our healthcare system," Hyland said.

WEDI, a broad based healthcare industry coalition, brings together a consortium of leaders within the healthcare industry to identify practical strategies for reducing administrative costs in healthcare through the implementation of EDI.
