Richmond, Va.-based Stony Point Surgery Center has assembled a panel of top medical experts for a free public healthcare seminar, "Your Health Matters: Breast Cancer" on Jan. 31, 2012.
Julie Bragg, a former TV news anchor, will act as host and facilitator for the panel of top specialists: Dr. Gregory Formanek, hematologist/oncologist with Virginia Physicians Inc.; Dr. Clifford Deal, breast surgeon with Richmond Surgical; Dr. Gregory Lynam, reconstructive surgeon with Richmond Surgical Arts; and Dr. Scott Lucidi, infertility/gynecology with VCU Health System.
"It's an honor to be working with talented surgeons and physicians to share important health information with the Richmond community," says Bragg, who has hosted Stony Point Surgery Center's "Medical Minute" segments on CBS6 (WTVR-6) since November 2010. "From a woman's perspective, it's reassuring to hear the message of hope these doctors have to share. So much can be done now to treat the whole woman from surgery and reconstruction to helping women deal with the fertility issues that can come along with a breast cancer diagnosis."
This is the first in a series of free health seminars that Stony Point Surgery Center is hosting throughout the year as part of its community outreach program. "With the growing number of women being diagnosed with breast cancer every year, it's our goal to give people the most up-to-date research and information, so they can make the best decisions for their health," says Bruce Kupper, CEO of Stony Point Surgery Center. "We're very pleased to offer this potentially life-saving information as part of our first community event in 2012."
Each year in the United States, more than 250,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, but thanks to recent advancements in early detection and in treatment, survival rates have reached an all-time high. Stony Point Surgery Center is embracing the opportunity to educate women about the various advancements in treatment options that are available.
