PHILADELPHIA—The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Clinical Standards and Quality recently released a memo entitled, “Identifying Payment Year (PY) 2014 End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Quality Incentive Program (QIP) Measures Applicable to Your Facility; Actions Required by Your Facility to Ensure Correct Scoring; Ensuring Accuracy of Facility Information.”

The memo is designed to “guide Medicare-certified dialysis facilities in determining which clinical and reporting measures they will receive points for as part of the ESRD QIP for PY 2014, and to inform facilities about actions they must take as a result"

In the memo, CMS outlines changes to the PY 2014 ESRD QIP, clinical measures, reporting measures including mineral metabolism, the patient experience survey, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) dialysis event reporting, and accuracy of reporting measure data submission to the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) National Healthcare and Safety Network (NHSN). The memo also offers a number of resources that can be used to further clarify any questions administrators may have.
